How to care for your oak dining table

Even though oak dining tables impress with their robustness and do not require much care to look beautiful, you can still take a few measures to support the natural resilience. The first step for this is the right surface treatment. With the help of oils or varnishes, on the one hand the natural color is highlighted and on the other hand the surface of the oak dining table is open-pored sealed. If a glass of water tips over on the table, this is no problem, as the liquid is not directly absorbed by the wood. Generally you should nonetheless wipe up spilled liquids such as water, oil or wine as soon as possible with a dry cloth. Objects that could leave stains can be placed on a coaster for protection. Oak dining tables should in principle always be wiped with a dry cloth, since using damp cloths causes the wood to swell and the protective oil layer to gradually wear away. If it comes to the worst, you can use a scrubbing sponge (with the rough, black underside) for your oak dining table, lightly dip it in oil and rub the affected area with it. For this, it is best to use hard-wax oil.
